Live Painting FAQs

  • For how long should we book you?

I have a minimum of 2 hours for booking and can stay as long as you need me. I most typically paint for 4-6 hours for each event.

  • What is your set-up like?

I am completely self-contained along with my easel. I need a space of about 4-6 that is in good view of what you would like painted without being in the way of guest movement. For outdoor events I have use a photographers umbrella as needed.

  • Do you only paint weddings?

I paint events of all kinds! Weddings, Birthday Parties, Anniversary Events, Corporate Events, Conventions…and always open to a new adventure!

  • How do you decide what to put into my painting?

Without guidance I will set up to capture the essence of the venue, the mood, your unique decor, guests, and you of course! You can tailor your painting to include whatever is important to you. This can include detailed portraits of many of your guests.

  • How do I choose the right painter for me?

If the art is the most important aspect of your live painting experience, then view multiple samples of the artists’ work to find one whose work you really appreciate. If the guest experience is the most important aspect, then speak with the artists you are considering to make sure their personality fits your vision for the experience.

  • Can I turn my painting into cards or prints?

Yes! I work with a local print shop that makes beautiful reproductions of your original artwork for prints and/or stationery. I can make prints available for guests to purchase on my website as well. All images are copyrighted and a release must be obtained for any reproduction.

Guest Portrait FAQs

  • How long does it take you?

I have a 2 hour minimum for booking and I can stay as long as you need me. I can add on guest portraits to a live event painting booking if you would like a first look or ceremony painting.

  • What is your set-up like?

I can bring a 3’x6’ table, table cloth, light and chair or use yours. I use ink and watercolor for the portraits and they take just a few minutes to dry. I have cute stands to display finished portraits. For a Photo Portrait Bar, I use an iPhone or iPad to capture your guests image.

  • Are you Available?

Please inquire right away as dates can book up to two years in advance. Don’t hesitate to reach out if your wedding is this weekend either because you never know!

  • Can all of my guests get their portrait made?

Yes! If you have a small number of guests, they can all pose for their complete portrait. I also have a photo option which allows me to accomplish hundreds of portraits and mail them to you.

  • Do you have an option for smaller budgets?

Yes! I offer a Cash Portrait Bar for those on a smaller budget. You will pay a booking fee and your guests pay a small amount for their portrait on the spot with cash or Venmo. Currently under $20 a couple. This makes a fun gift for the wedding couple too!

  • Can I turn my portrait into cards or prints?

Yes! I can turn your portrait into a digital image for fun use on stationery, holiday cards, and more. Please let me know before your event for planning purposes.
